The Constitution
of the Eye Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Articles:
Article 1:
In reference to name: The Eye Bank of the Islamic Republic
of Iran is a non-profit organization which has been shortened
to “Bank” for the remainder of this constitution.
Article 2:
Purpose: To conduct research and training in order to provide
cornea and scleral transplantation and the preservation the
mentioned tissues as stated in the following paragraph.
a. Provide
necessary tissues for transplantation from human cadaver for
use in Iran.
b. Encourage said organ
donation as well as educating the people of the humanitarian
and therapeutic values of organ donation after death.
Article 3:
Duration: Eye Bank founded at 1978.
Article 4:
Address: Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education,
Administrative Head quarters Shahid M. Salary Street, After
Mirdamad Avenue, Vali Asre Avenue, Tehran, Iran
Article 5:
The Bank is a non-profit organization and its purpose is based
on Article 2 as well as the following principals.
5-1: Cooperation with the Ministry of health (medical board)
as well as Legal Medicine, Ministry of Justice and the association
of tissues transplantation in order for the bank to provide
organs for patients in need of transplants.
5-2: Establishment of a research center to collect information
about therapeutic services and to keep up with the latest
information about corneal and scleral transplants in the world.
To form scientific research and consultative committees and
the holding of conferences with guests speakers from inside
and outside Iran in related fields.
5-3: To further educate physicians as well as to increase
public awareness about organ donation, transplantation and
the activities of the Bank. This will be done through conferences
and public media.
5-4: To conduct vital research and education in order to help
improve the quality of transplant patient care.
5-5: To communicate with foreign eye banks and scientific
centers in order to improve scientific basis of eye bank.
• Note 1:
Any foreign communication shall be conducted after the permission
of all involved authorities.
Article 6:
All proposals, programs and other measures, which are stated
herein, are subject to approval by related authorities in
related ministries.
Article 7:
Financial and economic sources:
a. Credits and contributions of governmental agencies, private
sector and charity organizations.
b. Funds granted by transplant patients to the Bank which
receives the organ donations.
• Note 1:
All received funds and assets which belong to the Bank or
donations, are exclusively specified for Bank purposes only.
• Note 2: All incomes
and profits shall be used in accordance with articles 2,
5,6 (the purposes of the organization) of this constitution,
the founders and investors and relatives thereof shall have
no right to withdraw or specialize in any self interest, be
it dividends or investment with this bank.
Article 8:
The bank consists of the following elements;
a. Board of Founders
b. Board of Trustees
c. Board of Directors
d. Inspectors
